Fourth   Lesson

          The    fourth   letter   of   the   third   schoolday
is   also   taken   away   from   the   first letter by the
second:   The   hand   (Yod) of the left arm touches
with   its   thumb and index-finger the nipple of the
left   breast,   lifts   it   up,   and sets it down on the
circular    disk    of    a    potter's   lathe   next   to   the
potter's    hand,   where   the   mark   or   nipple   turns
into   the   new   letter TIT (read Tet, Greek Theta)
"potter's    clay".    For    in    this   context   what   the
mark    "x"    stands    for   cannot   be   anything   else
at   all.   If   the circle of the potter's lathe is to be
represented   by   straight   lines   one   may   exchange
the   lower   semicircle   for   one   of the right angles
of   the   letter   Shin   standing   on   their points, and
the   upper   semicircle for a right angle open at its
bottom,   and   pointed   at   its   top.   The   letter Tet
is   to be   pronounced   with   the   mouth,   both lips
and   tongue, in a position as if saying "o" or "u",
which is graphically illustrated by the circle around
the closed Tet distinguishing it from the open Tau.
