TORAH   OF   THE   ALPHABET
Repetition

          The   century   before   the final destruction of
Ugarit   is   contemporary with the century after the
reigns   of   Queen   Hatshepsut   ("Sheba")   in   Egypt
and   King   Shelomoh ("Solomon") in Israel, whose
culture,    literature,    alphabet,    and    weights   were
copied not only in Ugarit. The imitation is obvious
because    the   alphabetical   order   and   the   number
of 3000 Shekel per talent (p. 50) only makes sense
within    the    context    of    the   Israelite   culture   of
the Torah of Mosheh from the Sinai.*

(1952).   The   shapes   of   the   letters   He’   and   Samekh show that the
cuneiform    adaptation    of   the   alphabet   by   Ugarit   took   place   after
the    abolishment    of    the    ancient    Israelite    republic    around    1030.
