Just a wooden box — made out of acacia wood, the ARK OF THE
COVENANT
was used for transporting the two stone Tablets of the Law of the Torah of Moses from the
Sinai to
the Promised Land of ISRAEL. Deposited some centuries later, in the Holy of Holies of the
First
Temple, built by King Solomon in Jerusalem, this wooden box, and the 2 slabs of stone in it,
were
transformed into objects of religious worship. Both aspects, the physical and the religious, are
treated
by the members of the Ark of the Covenant Webring.
